THE ELAND'S RIVER SIEGE

Date: August 4th - August 16th 1900. This battle within the Boer War lasted 12 days.

- At the riverside battle, 2000 - 3000 Boer Soldiers attacked the 500 Australians, Rhodesian, Canadian and British Soldiers, who were stationed at Brakfontein Drift near the Eland's River
- The attack began very early in the morning on the 4th of August
- In an effort to silence the guns, a small group of Queenslanders sailed over 200 yards to put in an attack on one of the Boers intense Military Barrage, forcing its crew to pack up their weapons and withdraw
